High
School Homeschooling
High
school home schooling can be a bit of a different approach particularly if
you are just embarking on homeschooling your kids as the approach the junior
high or high school level.
Actually complete homeschooling or even
supplemental homeschooling at the high school level can be an excellent
idea.
As a
parent of the high school aged child you can get involved with your child
and work with them to show them that learning can be an exciting adventure
and that many subjects that on the surface they feel they have no or little
interest in can actually become quite fascinating once they take the time to
begin to learn more about them.
High school homeschooling is also a
wonderful
opportunity to help your child develop skills in a subject that they may be
struggling with by giving them additional personal attention and challenging
them to do better. You can also open the door to learning a subject they
love by giving them the freedom to explore it and learn it far beyond what
the limited time in a traditional classroom would allow.
As
you know one of the major problems with the traditional classroom is that
there is no way they can be tailored to each individual child's motivation
for learning. With high school homeschool, you as the parent can fill this
void. Traditional schooling's big downfall is that they prepare merely for
the next grade level rather than learning about any type of forthcoming
life's experiences. This type of approach to
education lends itself to only
temporarily stored in the child's mind as the goal is only to learn
something long enough to get by the necessary tests and get to the next
grade level. With high school home schooling you can work to correct this
type of educational mentality.
High
school homeschooling can be made to be though provoking and hands on
researching and learning by the child that will take their expertise in a
subject far beyond what any traditional classroom education would. This is
the type of learning that will stay with the child for life. This is the
type of learning that gives kids confidence that they can tackle tough
subjects and get past the initial learning curve of a new subject and excel
at it.
