Don't get too caught up in trying to look at and evaluate too many of the homeschooling books and articles that are available. Learn to know which one's seem to fit your personal philosophy, family core values, and lifestyle. At first it will seem a bit overwhelming but soon you'll be able to decide with a quick perusal of the content.

Although it is not as important these days with the ease of access to the internet to have an educational library or set of encyclopedias, but having educational material around the house to supplement your homeschool curriculum is important.

Also consider subscribing to a couple of kids educational magazines. These are great additions to your homeschool resources and they will genuinely generate your child's enthusiasm for learning as the watch for the mail everyday for magazine to arrive and dig into it!
