Science Projects You Can Do At Home

Ever wonder about how in the world you're going teach your child a unit on science? Maybe even a science project or two, three, or more?

Science... not my area expertise for sure.

We all know science is all around us. I wanted my kids to be exposed to science. Aside from the science aspect of science, science teaches your kids how to think. How to think critically. How to organize, how to plan, how to evaluate, how to critique.

And besides, I remember some of the science projects I was exposed as a child, and many of them were quite fun! Science is a great way to take advantage of your child's natural curiosity and it's a great way to do something together with your child... and yes even the parent gets to learn something too... but I'll never tell my kids!

So if you ever wondering...

By the way...

  • Why is the sky blue?
  • What is static electricity and why is it different?
  • What makes the leaves change color in the fall?
  • How do you get a whole egg inside a bottle?
  • How do plants live?
  • What causes weather to happen?

and how can I put together some sort of science project that will capture the attention of my kids without spending a bundle or having to track down all types of materials that I wouldn't have readily available?

I know first hand how tough it can be to come up with a good science project or even a science fair project for the kids. Fortunately, I found a couple of very good books that are great for kids (and parents!) that are tailored for us not so scientific folks and are very affordable.

101 Easy Science Projects is really cool. Most of the projects can be done with every day household items. It has easy step by step instruction, and has projects geared for K-12. It also comes with an 8 week money back guarantee.

Here is the link for 101 Easy Science Projects where you can learn more. (will open in a new window)

The other very good good science project book is 47 Top-Notch Science Projects. This book is geared for elementary aged kids (grades 3-5) and here is the link so you can learn more. (will open in a new window)

And finally there is 24 hour science projects. This is an online science project site that you can get access to that has complete science project guides with many of the materials used that are available right from your own home.
